8th Least Bible-Minded City: Buffalo
A city of nearly 259,000 people in a "below-average conservative" state, Buffalo is home to three Catholic-based colleges (Canisius College, Villa Maria, and Trocaire College) but is void of megachurches. Four in ten adults are "unchurched," ranking the city in the top quarter of Barna Group's churchless cities. Sixty percent of New York residents claim "Christian" as their religion, but Catholic takes almost a third of the specific denomination votes. Twenty-seven percent of residents are of the trending "nones" category.
