If you think this looks like something out of science fiction, you're probably not too far off. The Church of Scientology uses this "electropsychometer" to "audit" its members. It sends an electrical current through the body and measures what happens next. Though there is not much known about the use of this device, we can only guess that one of the Church's most famous members was reeling from an "audit" in an appearance on Oprah.
