Still Prosperous
We'd like to take this moment to express sympathy for megachurch pastor Joel Osteen. He understandably would rather not be on this list, at least for the reason cited. Osteen is senior pastor of Houston's Lakewood Church, the largest church in America. In April, an elaborate Internet hoax had him renouncing his faith and leaving Lakewood to start a new faith-free church. The fake headlines begat real headlines and then headlines about the hoax. The "Joel Osteen quits" stories still pop up in social media from time to time. As Mark Twain probably didn't say, a lie can travel half-way round the world by the time truth gets its pants on in the morning.
