Hey, Hey, Y2K!
On the eve of 2000, everyone was expecting the apocalypse. Religious seers saw the Second Coming coming, tech troublemakers said all of our computers would stop working. Power grids would fail, planes would fall out of the sky. We'd have riots and shortages and anarchy. Civilization as we know it would collapse, and that was the best case scenario -- true only if the religious doomsayers were wrong. Survivalists stockpiled food and water and of course guns and ammo to defend their stashes. DJs played Prince's "1999" over and over on the radio to remind us that the end really was near, thank God. And then... a few of us had to reset our clocks.
