Having brought to an end the U.S. Agency for International Development, it is unsurprising that the Trump administration is seeking to mend fences with evangelicals by reinstituting $2 billion in foreign aid, with government directing the funds through Christian and other faith-based charities. Many churches are deeply entwined with groups that received significant funds from USAID. One April poll showed that three-fourths of evangelicals were concerned about the dismantling of USAID.
