Is 30 Minutes Too Long For Confession?

Beneath the internet snark was a legitimate Catholic question: How long is a confession actually supposed to take?

The answer, perhaps surprisingly, is that the Church does not provide such guidelines.

Neither the Catechism of the Catholic Church nor the Code of Canon Law specifies whether a confession should last five minutes, 10 minutes or 30 minutes.
