Replacing DEI with “Imago Dei”

Imago Dei (Latin for “in the image of God”) holds that each person’s primary identity begins with being created by God and bearing His image. This belief does not erase the real differences between individuals. Instead, it sets a moral baseline that pushes us to see everyone, from immigrants to close friends, as neighbors with equal worth. Imago Dei gives us a shared starting point for civic life because it speaks to what all human beings are—not to their identity group.
