In Defense of Israel’s Legitimacy

No one knows how to solve the Israel-Palestine problem. It is easy to say: we need a two-state solution! I say the same thing, but with this qualification: if that is possible. Is it possible? The Middle East is not an area favorable to nation-states. For millennia, it has been the object of rivalry among empires. The cohesive nations found there are the remains, to be sure impressive, of ancient empires: Turkey, Iran, Egypt.
