The two years of war in Gaza and attacks in Israel, and the world’s reaction to them, have angered, confused, devastated and challenged many American Jews.
For some, it’s not difficult to sort their Jewish identity, the people of Israel and the nation’s government into neat categories, and assign responsibility or credit for the current state of affairs.
For others, that effort is painful and onerous. Still others feel an even tighter bond to the state and to other Jews.
