Politics From Pulpit May Be Tiresome, But Should Be Legal
The last thing many want to hear when in a house of worship for religious services is a political sermon. It’s infuriating being trapped in your seat while being subjected to a lecture with clear partisan overtones. In those situations, we’re constrained by the customary deference we show our spiritual leaders and generally unable to register even subtle disagreement without appearing disrespectful, let alone being able to dispute what is being said from the pulpit. And it can lead some people to decide that maybe this particular institution isn’t really a good fit for them and their families after all.
