Midday Tuesday, Budde ascended the cathedral’s pulpit, the stained-glass windows bathing the nave in multicolored light. She outlined three foundations for unity: honesty, humility and honoring the inherent dignity of every human.
“In the name of God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now,” she said.
