The Navy Blue of India

Now our tree is decked out in gold cherubs and rose-gold poinsettias—pink cloth flowers with glittery metallic leaves—and it looks fabulous and strange. Both of my teenagers approve. It isn’t Barbie pink, but celebration pink—the pink of good times, blinged-out Indian brides, and Advent: the season of universal peace and joy.
