Make Dignity Great Again

Yet Jesus spoke to her. Offered her love and grace and “living water.” He saw her dignity. And before my fellow Christians can retort, “Yeah, but he also called her out on her sin -” Yes! He called out her behavior. But not before acknowledging her humanity and offering her love and grace. 

And gosh, don’t we as Christians do the opposite? We see the “sin” first and foremost, lecture the sinner about salvation, and then if the person follows our prescribed atonement we will then accept them into the fold and recognize their dignity as Christians. 

Here's the thing: God created everyone in His image. We all bear imago Dei. Just because we may not look like them or worship like them or love like them or vote like them does not mean we can withhold their dignity.
