Harris Puts Religion Back in Spotlight in Closing Election Weeks

On Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris visited two churches in Georgia, using the swing state visit to bring focus to her religious beliefs.

Harris spoke at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, in Stonecrest, and at Divine Faith Ministries International, in Jonesboro, on her birthday.

Religion has long played a significant role in U.S. politics. While freedom of religion and the separation of church and state remain core values of the Constitution, almost every president in U.S. history has identified as a Christian.
