36 Years After Schism, What Does Society of Saint Pius X Represent?

On June 30, 1988, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, founder and superior general of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX), ordained four bishops without Rome’s approval, resulting in his excommunication along with that of the four priests—an excommunication that was lifted for the latter by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009.

With the recent death of Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, one of the four illicitly ordained bishops and the theologian of the society, what does the SSPX truly represent 36 years after the schism?
