A Decade Later, Pope’s ‘Evangelii Gaudium’ Continues to Resonate

“The joy of the Gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. Those who accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness. With Christ joy is constantly born anew,” Pope Francis wrote in the opening of “Evangelii Gaudium,” a 2013 document many have interpreted as the new pope’s presentation of his vision for the contemporary church. Released 10 years ago Nov. 24, the document’s message is as relevant as ever, several theologians and evangelization experts told OSV News.
