Putin's Folly: Identifying as a Defender of Religious Freedom

In February 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, most western Christians didn't express immediate concern about threats to religious freedom. Of course, everyone knew the fighting would be ugly. And a general sense of dread was stirred up by reports of Russia's notorious ruthlessness in other conflicts. Yet specific fears of what might happen to religious believers in Ukraine were not clear in our minds. In retrospect, we should have been paying closer attention.
