Identity is everywhere -- from identity crises to identity politics to sexual identity -- the term is arguably enjoying unprecedented popularity. But identity is not just popular in secular circles. In fact, Christians are leading the way. In 2010 John MacArthur wrote Slave: The Hidden Truth About Your Identity in Christ. In 2013 Mark Driscoll published Who Do You Think You Are? Finding Your True Identity in Christ. In 2015, even T.D. Jakes got on the identity bandwagon, publishing Identity: Discover Who You Are and Live a Life of Purpose. If MacArthur, Driscoll, and Jakes are all writing about it, it must be fine, right?
