At the close of "Romeo and Juliet," with both young lovers dead, the Prince of Verona delivers the play's lesson. "Where be these enemies? Capulet, Montague, / See what a scourge is laid upon your hate, / That heaven find means to kill your joys with love. / And I, for winking at your discords, too / Have lost a brace of kinsman. All are punished (5.3.290-294)."
