Haiti: Missionaries Sang While Captive, Forgave Captors

As Haitian gang members surrounded them on their way back from an orphanage, the 17 missionaries began to sing. "The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them," they intoned, according to a statement from the Ohio-based Christian Aid Ministries on Friday. The Psalm became a common refrain for the missionaries while they were captives of 400 Mawozo after being abducted on Oct. 16 outside Port-au-Prince, David Troyer, the ministry group’s general director, said in the statement. The final 12 missionaries were released this week, following the release of three earlier this month and two in November. The group included 16 Americans and one Canadian.
