Religion Has Nothing to Do With SCOTUS Abortion Case

Whether a state has the constitutional authority to protect unborn life is a question currently before the Supreme Court. But whether such a law would violate the Establishment Clause of the Constitution should not be up for debate. During the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization oral arguments on Dec. 1, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor brought religion into the discussion when questioning Mississippi Solicitor General Scott Stewart about the state's law banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. She said, "How is your interest anything but a religious view? The issue of when life begins has been hotly debated by philosophers since the beginning of time. It's still debated in religions."
