But they do show up in greater numbers once or twice a year during the High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). Conservative and Reform rabbis carefully prepare their sermons each year knowing they will have the attention of large numbers of people they likely won’t see again until next fall.
