Today we conclude our two-part series on what the Bible says about wine. Last week we studied the Old Testament, and now we uncork the New, noting the pivotal role wine plays in Jesus's Messianic ministry. Wine is first mentioned in the New Testament's first book, the Gospel of Matthew, when Jesus says: "'Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved'" (Matthew 9:17).
