Trump Seems to Slam Romney, Pelosi at Prayer Breakfast

The day after a deeply divided Senate voted to acquit President Trump of two impeachment charges, he addressed lawmakers and others Thursday morning at a gathering that was supposed to display reconciliation and bridge-building. Trump used the event to target his political opponents and gave a campaign-like address touting his record.

The breakfast took a striking turn Thursday, when speaker after speaker focused on the Christian call for loving enemies and working to spread the faith by modeling unity — and then Trump took the podium. He used his time as a campaign speech and to slam his opponents, framing the room of global faith leaders as on his side, and on the side of God.
