Religion in the Presidential Campaign

An Aug. 8 Pew Research Center poll with a sampling of 4,600 respondents shows that nearly two-thirds of recent churchgoers say they have heard some discussion about social and political issues from the pulpit, especially on topics such as religious freedom and homosexuality, but religion is rarely a topic raised at the political podium.

What’s going on? Do Americans care less about the religious views and practices of their national candidates?
