But even though the attacker has clearly been identified, social media spent much of Thursday night and Friday blaming the wrong guy. In fact, they focused their blame on a Sikh man, who has actually been blamed for terrorist attacks before.
The man in the photo is Veerender Jubbal, a Canadian journalist, who actually was wrongly identified as the attacker of the Paris attacks last November, according to Mashable.
In fact, as you can see below, Jubbal’s original photo shows him holding an iPad, whereas Photoshopped versions depict him standing with some sort of military vest and a copy of the Quran.
At the time of the Paris attacks, Jubbal spoke out against the photo, saying that he was in no way associated with terrorist organizations, according to Mashable.
