The Spirit of the Synod

Now that I am back from the Synod in Rome, I want to put a few thoughts down on paper, and hope to add to them in time.

As we began our work during the first week of October, the Holy Father reminded us that it would be a mistake to see the synod as a kind of parliamentary exercise in deciding policy issues or tackling problems. Rather, he reminded us that the synod was more than just our gathering. He wanted us to see that his intention is to change the way we act as church, for he wanted to enact a new model of being church that has a wide range of relevance for all of us. What does this mean more concretely?
