Pope Francis, for all his charm and popularity, is easy to get wrong, and I fear that quite a few Americans have been getting him wrong on the eve of his historic address to Congress.
At worst, he is a seen as a damned Commie with a bee in his bonnet about global warming. One Congressman, Paul Gosar, a Catholic from Arizona, will boycott the address. “If the Pope plans to spend the majority of his time advocating for flawed climate change policies,” he said, “then I will not attend.” This one-man boycott seems a lost opportunity to hear from the man in white.
