Can We Study Religion in Today's Climate?

What should you do in a house of worship of another faith? This is a question that vexes many who write about religion and many who do not. Should non-Jewish men don kipas in synagogues? Should non-Muslim women cover their heads in a mosque? Should non-Catholics kneel during Mass? When everyone at an evangelical church holds hands and prays, should I keep mine by my side? Does not participating imply rudeness or does it simply say, I respect your faith enough not to pretend I am a part of it?
