Mormon Apostles Don't Campaign

Mormons around the world have mourned the loss of Boyd K. Packer, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who died earlier this month. But with his loss, comes a new season of leadership.

On July 15, 2015, Russell M. Nelson, Church Apostle and former surgeon, was named as the new President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles by Church President Thomas S. Monson. It was not a difficult choice for President Monson to make as the line of succession was already in progress. There is no campaigning or speculation for the position. There is an order that is followed.
