Lutherans & Catholics Share a Historic Pulpit

Bishop Tracie L. Bartholomew made history in the Lutheran Church by becoming the first woman to head the entire Synod of New Jersey in 2013. And St. Henry's Church, Bayonne, made history by being the first Catholic Church in the entire state to invite her to speak from its pulpit. When Julia Hrynkiewicz, a 13-year-old from Bayonne, found out that she was a woman bishop, she was surprised and said, "That's pretty cool. It's different and I like that." 

It appeared that most of the 150 people from all age groups attending the "Seven Last Words of Christ" service on Tuesday evening of Holy Week agreed with her. The invitation came from Bishop Thomas Donato, the pastor of St. Henry's, who is also the Episcopal Vicar for Hudson County. They took turns presenting the seven reflections.
