Get Out of Your Christian Bubble

My daughter is in second grade at a suburban elementary school. Her classmate Mohammed informed her that — when he is of age — his culture requires him to marry a fellow Muslim. Naomi responded, “No you don’t. This is America. You can do whatever you want.” Naomi and I had an interesting conversation debriefing this exchange. Together, we’re learning that engaging people who are different from us expands our worldview in more ways than we know.

It’s just one example of why those of us who claim Christ need to develop legitimate, agenda-free friendships with people who don’t share our core convictions. Here are some reasons Naomi and I (and all of us, for that matter) need friends like Mohammed:
