United States and other Western diplomats seem to believe that every international situation can be reduced to unresolved political issues that require negotiation in a secular manner. This has been the U.S. foreign policy assumption underlying the Middle East Peace Process, the Iranian Nuclear Negotiations, and every other issue in the Middle East.
These diplomats adhere to a separation of state and religion in their political dialogue with representatives from Middle East states. While paying lip service to the value of religion and culture, diplomats from the West filter out religious comments, beliefs and influences.
