Jewish Roots of Christian Worship

Situated as we are in early November at a midpoint between the end of the High Holy Days in the Jewish calendar and the start of Advent in the Christian one, it seems like the right time to include such a baldly titled book on the Churchâ??s general Christmas wish list.

For after â??twenty centuries of stony sleep,â? to quote W.B. Yeats in â??The Second Coming,â? far too many of us who subscribe to the latter calendar will wake up once again on December 25 in an unwitting fog of continuing ignorance or indifference with regards to our Judaic heritage as Christians, meaning literally, â??sons of Christ.â?
