Blame the Lutherans

Being Lutheran isn’t trendy or cool. There are few mystical elements about the faith. There are no red bracelets associated with it. There isn’t meditation or yoga poses. There aren’t flashy multi-media explosions with religious pop bands fronted by tattooed pastors. Its houses of worship don’t have stadium seating like newer non-denominational churches. There isn’t a lot of ornamentation or ostentatiousness either. Being a Lutheran is embracing an economical approach to faith, Christianity stripped of all its excesses. Like my parents used to say, “Catholic Light”.
