Schism Through a Young Methodist's Eyes

The United Methodist Church has always been important in my life. Growing up, my father was a pastor until I was around 13. The ideas and preaching of John Wesley were ingrained into my head and heart at a young age.

As I have learned and appreciated the thoughts of Methodism’s founder, it seems that one overarching theme has been present: love. John Wesley consistently talked about how love was God’s reigning attribute. Consequently, Wesley focused virtually all of his religious directives around love.
