Breathtaking beaches, exotic islands, and complete rest and relaxation are often things that come to mind when one thinks of the South Pacific. But did you know that another word that describes those islands is ‘Mormon?’
While I knew our Church was there, I was surprised to learn that it has been there for 170 years and has close to half a million members! In fact, more than 10,000 members in Papeete, French Polynesia held a cultural celebration May 23-24 to mark the anniversary of the first Mormon missionaries’ arrival in the South Pacific in 1844.
