When it comes to charitable giving, Christians contribute to the collection plate, Jews donate tzedakah and Muslims give zakat. But what do nonbelievers do?
The Foundation Beyond Belief wants to provide the answer to that question and has announced its first nationwide gathering in Rosemont in July. The convention will bring together disparate atheist, humanist and secular altruists to discuss opportunities for kindness and community building. A new global service project resembling the Peace Corps also will be unveiled.
