Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church is one of the biggest churches in the world. The celebrity preacher is seen on television, has bestselling books and even has one of the biggest churches in Houston with followers coming to what once a NBA stadium. While nobody had any idea on how much the church members were tithing were every week, the latest robbery at the Lakewood Church gave everyone a glimpse at how much cash this religious organizations is bringing in. According to The Blaze on Sunday, the $600,000 tithe theft is still being investigated by the police. CNN reported that the cash was only for one weekend of giving by the congregation, as the stolen money came from contributions on March 8 and 9.
Has anyone pulled out their calculators to see how much money Lakewood Church pulls in with donations every year? Considering that the middle of March isn’t a big month as there are no holidays and that it doesn’t include any big donations (from estates or other offerings) everyone should be pulling out their calculators. Apparently, $600,000 times 52 weeks in a year is $31.2 million dollars. Consider it a baseline of what the church brings in every year. Like the low end of the donations. This doesn’t include big offerings nor would it be part of the books sales, videos, and other materials items that Joel Osteen sells when he is out preaching.
