A House member who is a Presbyterian deacon carried a bill last week that Presbyterian leaders say would have aided his church in keeping its building as it looks to split from the larger community.
Rep. Craig McPherson, R-Overland Park, said House Substitute for Senate Bill 18 is narrowly tailored and would make church property disputes "fairer, cleaner and clearer."
