Some people think the attraction of Christianity is life everlasting, but the only bit that I can easily believe in is the death. I believe that Jesus died, and that no one who mattered gave his death a second thought. The whole of history is supposed to hinge on the wretched and deluded outcast tortured to death in a way so horrible that respectable Romans were not supposed even to mention it.
