An Amish bishop testified Thursday that he feared the "cult-like" activities Samuel Mullet Sr. was promoting in another of Ohio's Old Order Amish families, and ordered his followers to sever their ties to the Mullet group.
Bishop Myron Miller, 46, told jurors at the hate-crime trial of Mullet and 15 followers that his Amish group's conflicts with the Mullet clan reached a climax last fall after Mullet's son, Billy, was excommunicated from Miller's church in Carrollton, 50 miles southeast of Akron.
