Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church isn't going anywhere any time soon -- spiritually, that is. As divisiveness over the role of gays in the church provokes conservative-leaning Presbyterian churches across the U.S. -- including one in nearby Danville -- into bolting from the mainline U.S. Presbyterian denomination, Walnut Creek Presbyterian -- in an unexpected affirmation of loyalty, says it has no plans to follow suit. Reflecting the roiling controversy within the church over homosexuality and interpretation of the Bible, Danville's Community Presbyterian recently seceded from the denomination to join the more conservative Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
