In September of 1823 a resurrected personage–an angel– with authority from the Lord appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith. In a written account about the angels visit Joseph Smith stated: “He called me by name, and said unto me that he was a messenger sent from the presence of God to me, and that his name was Moroni; that God had a work for me to do; and that my name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues, or that it should be both good and evil spoken of among all people” (read the whole account).
Let’s go back sixty years to an experience a young missionary had a while serving amongst the Islands of Tonga. The missionary, John H. Groberg, described the following incident he had on an island that only had 80 people: “We visited every home (eighteen in all), leaving a tract at each one and inviting the people to a meeting that evening. At the last home, a strange thought occurred to me, ‘Why don’t you test the prophecy that the name of Joseph Smith should be known for good and evil throughout the world?’ I don’t know why the thought came, but it did.
