The mind-bending conclusions of a University of Illinois study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology may offer new clues as to the purpose of religion in human experience and the link between religion and happiness.
Apparently people are less happy in poor countries, which tend to be more religious; the more irreligious countries (and states) are happier and healthier; and yet religious individuals tend to be happier and healthier in the poor countries.
