"Time to compete" is the title of Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman's plan to spur job growth in America. The title is apt because Huntsman's economic plan has set the bar for all other presidential candidates. It is now time for the other Republican presidential candidates to compete on economic policy by providing their clear economic plans. We hope each will do so with the clarity and vision found in Huntsman's plan.
For all the concern about this stagnant economy, watching the Republican hopefuls dance around tough economic questions has been disconcerting. They are quick to attack President Barack Obama's economic policies but slow to take clear affirmative stands themselves. With the notable exception of Rep. Ron Paul, most of the candidates have shared free-market platitudes rather than specific policies.
