David Campbell, an associate professor of political science at Notre Dame, and Robert Putnam, a professor of public policy at Harvard, combined on a New York Times op-ed piece last week that imparted some interesting information on America’s tea party phenomenon, now roughly three years into its existence.
The two profs, who co-authored the book “American Grace: How Religion Divides and Unites Us,” conclude that rather than defining American politics these days, the tea partiers are increasingly swimming against the tide of public opinion.
