I recently started the book, The Preacher and the Presidents, a book about Billy Graham’s experiences with the past 11 U.S. presidents (excluding Barack Obama). When Graham was first invited to the nation’s capital in the late 1940’s he told an influential publisher of Time Inc.: “If Washington could experience a spiritual revival and our national leaders turn to Christ for the answers to our dilemma, the course of history may be changed.” I don’t know everything Billy Graham has taught over the years (that’s why I have chosen to read the book), but the hope of turning influential men and women toward Christ, so they in turn can lead and encourage others down a principled driven life is a timely message.
