A Christmas Letter From Egypt

As I understand it, archaeologists recently uncovered several dozen nearly identical scraps of papyrus from an important site in northern Egypt. They were found one atop the other, as if they'd all been stacked up, waiting for distribution - mail that never got delivered, like party invitations, or perhaps an early version of the annual Christmas letter.

Linguists had little trouble deciphering the text, which as I understand it is written in a common language of ancient Palestine, probably a little over 2,000 years old. Deciphering it was easy, but they aren't having much luck making sense of the message. Here's what they're working with, as I understand it:
