Police shot and killed a man armed with a shotgun here outside the Mormon Church's Oquirrh Mountain Temple.
The Christmas day shooting took place about 12:30 p.m., said South Jordan Police Lt. Dan Starks. Police were releasing few details, but the man, described as an "adult, caucasian male" got into a confrontation with someone else in the parking lot of the temple. There were other people there enjoying the pleasant weather and the Christmas holiday, police said.
